Moroccan Rapper El Grande Toto Faces Judge Amid Multiple Complaints

In custody since Monday, rapper El Grande Toto, will be presented this Wednesday, October 26 to the prosecutor. He was arrested for the purposes of a preliminary investigation conducted by the Casablanca prosecutor’s office.
The singer is indeed the subject of six complaints for defamation, insult and threats. These complaints were filed by several people, including journalist Mohamed Tijini and singer Abdelouahab Doukkali, Moulay Ahmed Alaoui, Abdellah Essamy, as well as a Casablanca police officer, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribia.
After his hearing, the artist could be placed in pre-trial detention, prosecuted while at liberty or released, the newspaper points out. To recall, the rapper apologized on Sunday, during a press conference, to Moroccans, for controversial remarks he had made about his cannabis consumption.
Questioning the real motives of this legal action, the newspaper writes: "if the most listened to and most popular rapper on the continent has committed an act punishable by law, we will obviously respect the law." However, "if it is a desire to educate or discipline him, we would then be forced to ask several questions," it continues.
