Moroccan Rapper El Grande Toto Arrested Following Public Apology Over Cannabis Remarks

Despite his public apologies at a press conference on Sunday, the rapper El Grande Toto was taken into custody on Monday by the Casablanca court.
The singer is indeed the subject of five complaints for defamation, insult and threats. These complaints were filed by several people, including journalist Mohamed Tijini and singer Abdelouahab Doukkali.
On Sunday, El Grande Toto had, during a press conference, apologized to Moroccans for controversial remarks he had made about his cannabis consumption.
In late September, Toto had been questioned at a festival in Rabat about his cannabis use, which he acknowledged on his social media. "Yes, I smoke cannabis and so what?" he had said. These remarks sparked a wave of outrage in public opinion and even in Parliament. "It’s a youthful mistake for which he has apologized," the Minister of Culture, a staunch defender of the rapper, had even said.
