Moroccan Pro-Palestinian Groups Protest Israel Ties Amid Crackdown on Demonstrations

The normalization of relations between Morocco and Israel is not well received by many Moroccans. Several Moroccan pro-Palestinian organizations have denounced the bans and dispersals of demonstrations initiated in several cities.
These non-governmental organizations, angry at the resumption of relations between the two countries, have called on their supporters to multiply sit-ins, gatherings despite strong police presence, as well as taking a stand in the digital space, according to a statement published on Saturday and signed by several NGOs.
These are the BDS movement in Morocco, the Moroccan Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (MACBI), the Moroccan Democratic Network of Solidarity with the Peoples, the Moroccan Committee for the Defense of the Causes of the Ummah, the Committee of Solidarity with the Palestinian People in Casablanca, as well as the Moroccan Coalition of Human Rights Defense Organizations.
These expressive mobilizations had been organized last week to protest against normalization with Israel in several cities including Rabat, Fez, Meknes, Agadir, Tangier, Taza, Guersif, Tiznit, Casablanca, Taroudant, Mohammedia, Khenifra, Zaio, Salé, Ouled Taima, Larache and Marrakech, as well as on the university campuses of El Jadida, Meknes and Agadir, according to the NGOs.
