Moroccan Pop Star Denied French Visa, Highlighting Ongoing Travel Restrictions

In an outburst posted on her Instagram story, Moroccan singer Manal Benchlika expressed her discontent regarding the restrictions still affecting Moroccans in terms of visas to France. "I’m shocked. I’m laughing in dismay," she confides. She explains that she has done everything necessary to obtain a visa. But what a disappointment.

"They gave us a paper on which it is written: refusal. The reason is that we have not provided proof that we have sufficient means of subsistence for the duration of the planned stay or means to return to the country of origin or residence," she says in the video.

"So, in short, we don’t have the means to go to France. I would just like to understand what’s going on, please, because this has no relation to reality. I want to understand why visas are still being refused [...] ", she wonders before adding. "It’s the last time we’re going to apply for a visa to France. We will apply either for Belgium, Switzerland, Spain or any other country. But not France."
