France Denies Visa Rejections for Moroccan Ramadan Imams

The French Embassy in Morocco issued a press release to formally deny the information reporting the refusal of French consulates to issue visas to Moroccan imams who were to travel to the country to accompany Moroccans residing on its territory during this holy month of Ramadan.
In a press release, the French Embassy in Morocco says it has taken note of information disseminated by several Moroccan media outlets and relayed on social networks, according to which the French consulates in Morocco would not have issued visas, or would have issued only a part, to Moroccan imams sent to France to accompany the Moroccan community during the sacred month of Ramadan.
"This information is not accurate. [...] All Moroccan imams who have applied for a visa as part of the celebrations of this Ramadan month have obtained their visa," the French representation assures, also recalling that the travel of Moroccan imams to France during the sacred month has been the subject, for many years, of close consultation between France and Morocco. The arrival of Moroccan imams in the country dates back to 1992.
