Moroccan Politician’s Son Dies by Suicide Amid Mental Health Struggles

The son of a municipal councilor decided to take his own life last Sunday morning. This happened in Feddalat, in the Benslimane region.
Suffering from chronic psychological disorders, the 24-year-old young man, who also had a criminal record, had attempted suicide several times in the past, without success.
His mother, a municipal councilor of the commune, said that her son left for the Tarawih prayer just after breaking the fast, before returning in a second state, of trance and hallucination. She also mentioned the name of a drug dealer whom she suspects of being behind her son’s condition.
On Sunday morning, the young man was found hanged to a tree in an isolated area of the commune. According to witnesses, his health condition had deteriorated in recent months.
