Moroccan Police Seize Gold Ingots and €2.4 Million in Major Bust

The elements of the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ) of Oujda in coordination with the prefectural service of the judicial police of the city, on Friday, August 7, proceeded to seize 20kg of gold plates and 2,489,870 euros and arrested four individuals in the process. This was thanks to the precise information provided by the services of the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).

The research and investigations carried out as part of this case made it possible to arrest four individuals for their alleged links to these criminal acts and to seize five cars and 12 ingots, weighing 20 kg, 110,000 dirhams, as well as a sum of 2,489,870 euros which could come from criminal activities, indicates a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).

During the searches carried out by the police elements to arrest a fifth individual in the Beni Drar region, for his alleged involvement in this case, a policeman was forced to fire two warning shots, due to the fierce opposition shown by a group of individuals by throwing stones, which caused the injury of a policeman, specifies the DGSN.

Pending the arrest of the remaining accomplices, including the suspects who refused to comply and opted for violence towards public officials during the performance of their duties, the four accused were placed in custody.
