Moroccan Police Raid Illegal Nightclub Near Melilla Border, Arrest 35

The Beni Ansar police carried out a raid on a cafe transformed into a clandestine cabaret very popular with drug barons and wanted individuals. A total of 35 people were arrested in this cafe where alcoholic beverages, cocaine, poker, prostitution and strip-tease are part of the services offered.

The cafe in question is located near the Melilla border post. The owner is known to his clientele as an organizer of strip-tease parties, reports the daily Assabah. Among the 35 people arrested, there were more girls, as well as wanted individuals, one of whom was the subject of three national arrest warrants. The searches led to the seizure of hashish, a car with a fake license plate, bladed weapons, hookahs and musical instruments.

According to authoritative sources, the shisha cafes in Nador have been transformed into clandestine cabarets promoting prostitution, pimping, alcoholic beverages and cocaine. They circumvent the rules and amass huge sums of money every night. The daily reports that the revenues of a famous cafe in Nador can reach 80,000 dirhams per evening.

The residents had filed complaints against the owners of these cafes and launched appeals, on social networks, to the Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit and the Director General of National Security, Abdellatif Hammouchi, so that they would proceed to close these establishments that have been established carrying out illegal activities. According to the president of the Association of the Great Rif for Human Rights, Saïd Chramti, Nador and Beni Ansar have the largest number of shisha cafes in the region. He is pleased with this raid but regrets that these types of operations are not followed by the application of legal measures such as closure and withdrawal of authorizations.
