Marrakech Authorities Raid Illegal Café, Arrest 40 for Violating Ramadan Curfew

About forty people, mainly young people and a café manager, were arrested on Wednesday evening and taken to the police station for violating the state of emergency in Marrakech. This was during a raid by local authorities in a café, owned by a local official.
According to Ahdath.info, which reports the information, the café manager continued his clandestine activities beyond 8 pm in violation of the restrictions and curfew imposed during this holy month of Ramadan when they were intercepted by the city authorities reinforced by elements of the royal gendarmerie.
The operation also resulted in the seizure of about twenty hookahs, the same source also informs.
It should be recalled that to curb the spread of new variants of the coronavirus, the Moroccan government has maintained the national restrictive measures to which a curfew from 8 pm to 6 am has been added during the month of Ramadan. The closure of cafes, restaurants and businesses must also be done imperatively at 8 pm, throughout the national territory.
