Moroccan Police Join Twitter, Sparking Online Mockery and Questions
Friday 15 February 2019, by
The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has just made a very noticeable entry onto the social network Twitter, raising many questions and above all... mockery.
It is a Twitter-certified account that was born in January under the name of the DGSN. It is therefore official. The police services will most likely start communicating via Twitter. The creation of this account aims, according to some sources, to communicate better and be closer to the citizens.
The description of this official DGSN account reads: "The General Directorate of National Security DGSN, Moroccan police, has the mission of maintaining public order and protecting people and property."
Although no Tweets have been posted so far, the DGSN account already has a good thousand followers. Many of them have posted rather hilarious comments. We can find interventions like "@DGSN_MAROC come out of the shadows to put you in" or "it’s me who follows @DGSN_MAROC and not the other way around" or bizarre requests like: "Dear Mr. Police Officer, CM of @DGSN_MAROC, to change the address of my ID card, do I send the 3 photos and the residence certificate by DM or by mention? Respectfully."
The first Tweet is eagerly awaited.
