Friday 1 March 2019, by Said

A new case of corruption has hit the Moroccan police. An investigation against an acting police commissioner for his alleged involvement in a corruption case has been opened by the regional judicial police service in Marrakech.

"The public prosecutor’s office has tasked the regional judicial police brigade of Marrakech with conducting an investigation into a complaint filed by a citizen who accuses the commissioner of having asked him for a sum of money for mediation in the lifting of the classification measure of a case," writes the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) in a press release.

This investigation comes after the filing of a complaint by a citizen who "accuses the commissioner of having asked him for a sum of money for mediation in the lifting of the classification measure of a case". The agent was also arrested in flagrante delicto of corruption, the DGSN specifies.

These events take place while another police officer, on the other hand, has just been congratulated by the Director General of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), Abdellatif Hammouchi, for his exceptional services and professionalism. This Larache police inspector has also received "a monetary reward" for "his integrity and uprightness in the exercise of his duties, as well as for his effective involvement in the policy of consecrating the values of moralization and governance advocated by the DGSN," according to a DGSN press release. Not only did the latter refuse bribes, but he also led to the arrest of the corruptors.
