Moroccan Police Arrest Two Girls for Public Blasphemy Against Islam in Marrakech

The police arrested two young girls accused of desecrating the Quran on a street in Marrakech.
The two young girls, Quran in hand, were walking down a street in Marrakech shouting hysterically and uttering blasphemies about Islam. Alerted to the incident, the police deployed a large force to arrest them. An investigation has been opened to shed light on this case.
Under Article 267 of the Moroccan Penal Code, the two young girls risk a sentence of six months to two years in prison and a fine of 20,000 to 200,000 dirhams for insulting the Islamic religion or the monarchy, or inciting attacks on the territorial integrity of the kingdom.
