Moroccan Police Arrest Four in International Credit Card Fraud Scheme

Four people were referred, last weekend, to the public prosecutor’s office by the judicial police of Rabat. They would be involved in a case of fraud, hacking and use of electronic payment cards and identity theft.
Three of the accused come from the same family. They are two brothers and the wife of one of them. The fourth is a delivery agent. They were arrested following a complaint filed by a company specializing in the sale of electronic equipment. Indeed, customers would have paid for computer equipment using hacked international payment cards, according to a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The monitoring of the delivery operation of the purchased goods allowed the arrest of the suspects at the level of El Harhoura near Rabat, specifies the same source. The research and investigations carried out by the national security services revealed that the three suspects are used to hacking the data of international bank cards which they use in computer equipment purchase operations resold later through the use of national identity cards belonging to other people. As for the fourth suspect, his role was limited to the delivery to the other three of the goods without verifying their true identity.
The search operations carried out at the suspects’ homes allowed the police to seize equipment purchased using falsified banking data. National identity cards were also seized during the searches.
The investigations continue to determine their origin and the conditions of their acquisition by the accused.
