Fugitive Arrested in Casablanca for Real Estate Fraud During COVID Lockdown

A 36-year-old repeat offender, who was the subject of a nationwide arrest warrant, fell into the net of the police elements of the Sidi Bernoussi security district in Casablanca on Wednesday. He would be involved in cases of forgery and use of forgeries, fraud and violation of the state of health emergency.
A statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) explained that the suspect was apprehended "within the framework of the implementation of measures to restrict the movement of citizens", in accordance with the declared state of health emergency. He was therefore apprehended in the company of victims to whom he had defrauded various sums of money in exchange for the sale of apartments in a "fictitious real estate project".
This is not his first offense, as he is the subject of several arrest warrants for his alleged involvement in cases of fraud and issuing checks without provision. The search carried out at the time of his arrest made it possible to seize several falsified identity documents, as well as bank cards and business cards bearing the names of people not yet identified.
The accused was taken into custody, at the disposal of the investigation conducted by the judicial police brigade, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to determine the other criminal acts with which he is charged.
