Moroccan passport: a proposal in Parliament to extend the validity to 10 years
Parliamentary Advisor Khalid Satti proposes to the Minister of the Interior to increase the validity of the Moroccan passport from five to ten years. This measure aims to simplify administrative procedures and reduce costs for citizens.
Khalid Satti suggests doubling the validity period of the document, following the example of several countries. The parliamentarian believes that the current five-year renewal cycle generates unnecessary administrative and financial burden for citizens, particularly families and seniors. This reform would help to ease the workload of government services and improve the efficiency of public service.

The elected official also points out the discrepancy between the validity of the passport and that of long-term visas. Many users are granted 10-year visas, but the expiration of their Moroccan passport halfway through prevents them from fully benefiting from it. This dysfunction forces travelers to undertake new costly and redundant procedures for their travel documents.

The written question addressed to Abdelouafi Laftit also proposes the adoption of a unique and permanent passport number, similar to the National Identity Card. The advisor asks the Ministry of the Interior to evaluate these proposals in order to modernize the system and permanently simplify the daily lives of Moroccan travelers.
