Moroccan Parliament Forms Task Force to Combat Rising Food Prices

At the initiative of the opposition, parliament wants to reflect on the measures to be adopted to counter the rise in prices of basic commodities. A thematic working group will soon be created for this purpose.
Thus, the office has asked the presidents of the parliamentary groups and groupings to appoint their representatives within a new temporary group whose mission will be to examine the measures to be implemented in order to control the prices of mass consumer products.
According to the opposition, this approach will allow elected officials to debate the actions and alternatives to be put in place to deal with the volatility of the prices of basic necessities.
It should be noted that the establishment of this thematic working group is in line with the provisions of the internal regulations, in particular Article 119 which provides that thematic working groups may be set up on the initiative of the Chamber’s office, its president or at the request of the president of a parliamentary group or grouping.
