Morocco’s Competition Council Warns Against Price Manipulation Amid Global Inflation

In a context of rising global prices, the Competition Council has called on all economic players to respect free competition, regarding the pricing of goods, products and services.
In a press release, the council warned all economic operators who might be tempted to engage in questionable practices to take advantage of the situation.
"All agreements, explicit or implicit alliances, or directives intended to influence the formation of prices, either by increasing or decreasing them, are prohibited, in whatever form," the council threatened.
And to add that the prices of goods, products and services are determined by the mechanisms of free competition, except in cases where the law provides otherwise, in accordance with Article 2 of Law No. 104.12 on freedom of prices and competition.
Operators have been invited to consult the guide produced for this purpose, relating to the adoption of compliance programs within companies or professional associations, which details the prohibited practices and the means to avoid the associated risks.
