Moroccan Opposition Party Proposes Plan to Combat Soaring Fuel Prices

Faced with the surge in fuel prices, the parliamentary group of the Party for Progress and Socialism (PPS) has made "concrete proposals" to the head of government, Aziz Akhannouch through a written question addressed to him.
It seems that "the government is not enthusiastic about interacting with our many demands and proposals in order to restore the La Samir refinery, which plays a key role in reducing the energy bill and limiting the import of high-priced products," notes in a written question addressed to the head of government, Rachid Hammouni, PPS deputy and chairman of the party’s parliamentary group in the House of Representatives. He therefore calls for the construction of a new (additional) refinery and the settlement of the Samir situation. Solutions that will help limit the rise in fuel prices.
The PPS MPs call on the government council to proceed with any other appropriate and innovative financing method, in order to create a new refinery and oil storage, reports Hespress. In this sense, he calls on Aziz Akhannouch and his team to invest the national expertise in this field, "which hundreds of Samir employees have accumulated, who are currently in critical social conditions". According to them, these solutions will also help maintain the energy security of the kingdom, and moreover avoid violent economic and social shocks.
