Moroccan Official Suspended After Unauthorized Gathering Violates COVID-19 Restrictions

The head of the Ain Chock administrative annex has been suspended for failing to enforce the measures enacted under the state of health emergency.
In a press release, the Ministry of the Interior stated that this decision comes following the dissemination of a video on social networks, showing a gathering of people, on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, in the "Derb Al-Kheir" neighborhood, under the jurisdiction of the Ain Chock district prefecture.
This gathering took place in flagrant violation of the measures taken within the framework of the state of health emergency, without any intervention by the representatives of the local authorities responsible for enforcing the measures required to preserve public health.
Furthermore, this decision also comes pending the results of the administrative investigation initiated to determine the responsibilities and take the necessary disciplinary and administrative measures.
