Morocco Imposes Nightly Curfew During Ramadan to Combat COVID-19 Spread

The Ministry of the Interior has just announced the ban on all night-time travel, from 7pm to 5am, starting from the 1st of Ramadan, that is this Saturday, April 25.
This decision comes more than a week after the extension of the state of health emergency for four additional weeks. It applies to both pedestrian and various means of transport, with the exception of people working in essential and vital sectors.
Throughout the period of this "curfew", the exceptional travel authorizations issued by the local authorities and the travel certificates provided by the public and private sectors will not be valid. As for the other measures of the state of health emergency (confinement, limitation of travel during the day, mandatory wearing of masks, etc.), they will remain in force.
In addition, the local authorities and the security services will ensure the strict enforcement of control measures towards people found on the public highway, under penalty of legal proceedings within the framework of the provisions of the decree-law relating to the state of health emergency and the procedures for its declaration, in particular Article 4.
