Moroccan Official Arrested for Alleged Fraud in School Bus Repair Scheme

The judicial services of the Royal Gendarmerie of Youssoufia proceeded to bring a municipal councilor in El Kantour, also an associative actor, before the public prosecutor at the court of first instance of the city. He would be involved in a case of fraud.
It all started with a complaint filed against the municipal councilor by the legal department of the El Kantour industrial site belonging to the Cherifian Office of Phosphates (OCP). In this complaint, the OCP accuses him of breach of trust and fraud, reports Al Massae. The elected official had requested financial support of 36,000 DH for the repair of a school bus. The office favorably followed the request of the associative actor.
Subsequently, the donor company repeatedly wrote to the elected official to ask him for proof of the expenses incurred. No response. The local OCP officials called on a bailiff who assisted them during the usual checks. Observation made: the bus is still in the same condition. No repairs have been made.
Based on this finding, the OCP services in El Kantour suspected the elected official of having misappropriated the amount disbursed. They asked the president of the court of first instance of Youssoufia to consult the accounts of the association chaired by the municipal councilor. They discovered that the elected official had made cash withdrawals from the amount paid into his account in two installments.
His wife, treasurer of the association, and he himself, will be questioned by the royal gendarmerie. The two give contradictory answers. An investigation has been opened, and the elected official has been brought before the public prosecutor at the court of first instance of Youssoufia.
