Moroccan Notary Wanted After Vanishing with Clients’ Funds in Berrechid

A notary practicing in Berrechid is the subject of a national arrest warrant issued by the judicial authorities. She would have disappeared from circulation after receiving a large sum of money from her clients.
The arrest warrant issued against her follows the numerous complaints that about ten of her clients have filed with the public prosecutor’s office near the court of first instance of Berrechid, reports Al Akhbar. They had signed sales and purchase contracts, and handed over checks, cash to be deposited in the official account of the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG). After that, they lost all contact with the notary.
The back and forth to the woman’s law office or her search in cafes or at her parents’ and friends’ homes proved fruitless. While rumors have it that the notary would have left Morocco for an unknown destination, the judicial police of Berrechid claim that she is still present on national territory. In addition, the investigations continue to find her. Before the accused fled, some of her clients had been able to receive checks, but without provision.
