Moroccan Minister’s Name Gaffe Mars Ancient Cities Festival Opening in Mauritania

During the launch of the 9th edition of the Festival of Ancient Cities, which began in Chenguit in Mauritania on Sunday, November 10, the Moroccan Minister of Culture and Sports, Hassan Abyaba, made a major blunder in the presence of many political figures.
In his speech, the Moroccan minister made a mistake on the name of the Mauritanian President, calling him Ould Azzouzi when his real name is Ould El Ghazouani. This major error, broadcast live on local television, did not go unnoticed.
This is the first national official activity of the Mauritanian President since his inauguration, according to local media, which also specify that the Festival of Ancient Cities also saw the participation, for the first time, of opposition parties.
The personal commitment of the current Mauritanian President to the various events has marked a break with the methods of the former President, who had failed to establish a political dialogue with the opposition, the media added.
