Moroccan Minister Denies Nepotism Claims, Threatens Legal Action

The entourage of the Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and the Family, Aawatif Hayar, provides a formal denial of the information according to which she has recruited her brother-in-law in her cabinet.
"Aawatif Hayar has only one sister, who lives with her husband abroad," assures a close friend of the Minister of Solidarity, Social Integration and the Family to TelQuel. "Everything circulating on this subject on social networks is false and unfounded," he added, also stating that "the minister reserves the right to take legal action".
The appointment of the minister’s husband, affiliated with the Istiqlal party, within her cabinet has recently sparked lively controversy. During his appearance on the Confidences de presse program on 2M, the Secretary General of the party, Nizar Baraka, defended Aawatif Hayar. According to him, the subject is outdated. El Mkaddem Kheddioui, the husband of the Minister of Solidarity, Aawatif Hayar, has definitively left the ministry.
