Prominent Moroccan Journalist Fahd Yata Dies at 69, Leaving Legacy in Economic Press

Journalist Fahd Yata, founder, director and editorialist of "La Nouvelle Tribune", died on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the age of 69, after a long illness. The Moroccan Federation of Newspaper Publishers (FMEJ) mourns a great pen of the Moroccan press.

The world of the press is in mourning. The family of journalist Fahd Yata announced his death on Saturday, December 22, reports the MAP. Twin brother of Nadir Yata, eminent journalist who died in 1996, and son of Ali Yata (1920-1997), the former Secretary General of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS), the deceased began his career at the daily Al Bayane.

Subsequently, Fahd Yata became editor-in-chief of the magazine Tijaris, the monthly Enjeux and La Vie Économique. In 1995, he created his own media: the weekly La Nouvelle Tribune and later launched its digital version in 2011. He holds a doctorate in international relations, a master’s degree in law and a diploma in political science from the University of Paris I, Panthéon Sorbonne.

The death of Fahd Yata is "a great loss for the profession", indicates the Moroccan Federation of Newspaper Publishers (FMEJ) in a press release. It paid tribute to the memory of one of the figures of the Moroccan press and a great pen of the Moroccan press for years. In this moment of pain, the federation extends its deepest condolences to the widow of the deceased, to his son as well as to all his family and loved ones.
