Moroccan Minister Covers Hospital Costs for Ailing Amazigh Music Icon

The Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaïd, agreed to cover the hospitalization costs of the Amazigh artist, Raïd Ahmad Bizmaoun.

The minister responded favorably to the request of the parliamentarian of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS), Khadija Arouhal, who called for the coverage of the hospitalization costs of the Amazigh artist, Raïs Ahmad Bizmaoun, according to Bayane al Yaoume. The official assured that he will fully take care of the treatment of this icon of traditional Amazigh music.

Deputy Khadija Arouhal had sent a letter to the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, to request his assistance for this great artist whose health condition is critical. He is undergoing treatment in a private clinic in the city of Agadir, the same source specifies.

Subsequently, the deputy expressed her gratitude to Minister Bensaïd who, putting words into action, contacted Bizmaoun’s family to inform them that he was now covering all the hospitalization costs of the Amazigh artist.

Born in 1948 in the Haha region, Raïs Bizmaoun "studied at the Koranic school then at the primary school. Following the death of his father, he finds himself obliged to leave school to go to work mainly on construction sites in Tafraout," an experience that inspired his famous song: "Ajdig nk allouz ifgigak ouameln", we can read on a Facebook page of the artist’s fans.

In his songs, the artist addresses social, educational or psychological issues. His first album, entitled "Oufighd Izoukad", was a great success.
