Renowned Moroccan Amazigh Singer Raïs Ahmed Bizmaoun Dies at 72

At the age of 72, Raïs Ahmed Bizmaoun, icon of traditional Amazigh music, died on Friday in a private clinic in Agadir, from cancer.
Another major loss for the Moroccan cultural world. This pillar of Amazigh culture is known for his artistic creations, including performances, poems and melodies that have marked Moroccan song and enriched the national artistic heritage.
Originally from Tamri, a rural commune in Agadir Ida-Outanane, Raïs Ahmed Bizmaoun became known in 1972 when he released his first cassette on the market. Very quickly, the deceased climbed the ranks of fame until he became one of the pillars of the art of the rwayes.
After two surgical interventions, the giant succumbed to the disease and a representative of Amazigh song has passed away.
