Vandalism of Iconic Mural in Al Hoceima Sparks Outrage on Social Media

The vandalism of the mural painted on the facade of Dar es Salam, near the church of the city of Al Hoceima, has sparked a wave of outrage and condemnation on social networks. Artist Imad Arous was moved by it on Facebook.
On his Facebook page, the artist expressed his displeasure, deploring the lack of respect and consideration for the efforts and various sacrifices that allowed the painting of this fresco. "The method of sabotaging the mural, and its nature, suggest that the matter was planned, as the perpetrator deliberately erased the characteristics of the painting using oil paint, so that it was impossible to restore it, given that oil paint cannot be erased except by scraping the wall".
His message has elicited comments from artistic and associative activists who have described this act as "odious" and called for the application of the law against those involved.
The Online Association for Culture, Arts and Social Works of Al Hoceima and the Aneri Association for Culture and Development have issued a statement of condemnation, describing this act as "unpatriotic" towards this artistic work, which took more than thirty hours to be painted.
