Moroccan international Zakaria Labyad did not respond to the call-up of Moroccan coach Vahid Halilhodzic. On his Instagram account, he explained the reasons for his absence.
While he was finally allowed to join the Atlas Lions with his teammate Noussair Mazraoui for the friendly match against Senegal, the Moroccan player remained in Amsterdam. According to him, he was unable to go to Morocco because his wife was expecting their first child who could be born at any moment.
Transferred to Ajax Amsterdam during the 2018-2019 season, the 27-year-old Moroccan midfielder has scored one goal in four Dutch league matches this season.
