Moroccan Man Suspected of Matricide Dies in Hospital Suicide Jump

An individual under medical supervision in the hospital committed suicide on Saturday morning, according to the Oujda police prefecture. He jumped out of a second-floor medical unit window.
In a statement, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) stresses that the deceased, aged 40, had been arrested for assault and battery resulting in the death of his mother on February 3 last, at the family home in Guercif. As if that were not enough, he had deliberately set his body on fire, causing serious injuries that required his transfer to the hospital for appropriate care. The police were waiting for him to recover from his injuries before opening a judicial investigation into the criminal acts he is accused of. But he committed suicide before any healing.
The initial investigation and findings revealed that the suspect was undergoing psychotherapy in parallel with the treatment for the serious burns he had sustained, before committing suicide on Saturday morning. A judicial investigation has been opened to elucidate the ins and outs of this case, concludes the DGSN.
