Moroccan Man Jailed for Domestic Violence Against Cancer-Stricken Wife in Carcassonne

Mohamed, a 51-year-old Moroccan, was sentenced to six months in prison by the single-judge court in Carcassonne for violence against his partner, in the presence of their minor son.
On October 13, 2023, in Carcassonne, Mohamed got angry at his partner because she asked him for the car keys and money to go shopping. He insulted her, calling her a "bitch" and a "dog", before twisting her wrist, grabbing her by the neck and slapping her, reports the newspaper La Dépêche.
The victim suffers from cancer and, according to the testimonies of the couple’s three children and the victim’s daughter, Mohamed has always been violent with her. He forbids her from going out, from receiving friends at home and regularly insults her. He is said to have even threatened to kill her with a knife.
Placed under judicial supervision since October 14, 2023, he was sentenced to six months in prison and was incarcerated at the end of the hearing.
