Moroccan Man Fatally Beaten in Spanish Park After Refusing Cigarette Request

Issam, a 34-year-old Moroccan, was brutally attacked on April 6 by six young people, including two minors, in a park in Logroño, in northern Spain, as he was cycling to work. The attackers asked the victim for a cigarette that he unfortunately did not have.
A cigarette. It is for this little stick that the young Moroccan was beaten to death in a park in Logroño on the night of April 6. "We were surprised by this gratuitous violence. They left him unconscious on the ground, seriously injured, and then came back to rob him," said Eduardo Esteban Pinillos, chief inspector of the judicial police.
"They took his wallet, his bike, his jacket..." explained Jesús Herranz, superior chief of the national police of La Rioja. The victim, found by a passer-by, was taken to the hospital where he died. The investigation led to the arrest of four young men and two women.
This crime does not have a racist motivation, the agents reassure. "It could have been anyone else," they said, insisting that the victim did not know the attackers.
