Moroccan Man Faces 22-Year Sentence for Domestic Violence and Rape in Spain

A Moroccan is accused of having harassed, beaten and raped his ex-wife in 2020 and 2021 in Palma. For these various crimes, the prosecution has requested a sentence of 22 years in prison against him.

The accused had subjected his wife to domestic violence in 2019 while they were still living together. He was found guilty of these acts and a restraining order was issued against him, the prosecution recalled in the indictment. But a few months later, the Moroccan violated this measure by going to the victim’s home several times to assault her, Diario de Mallorca reports.

The Moroccan even went so far as to force the woman to install a geolocation application on her phone in order to know her position at all times. "If you delete the app, I’ll kill you in front of your daughters," he threatened the victim, adds the prosecutor, who assures that for months the accused continued to assault his ex-wife and raped her at least once.

For the prosecution, the Moroccan is guilty of assault and battery, threats, sexual assault, theft and sexual assault. Offenses for which it has requested a sentence of nearly 22 years in prison against him.
