Moroccan Man Escapes Kidnappers in Spain After Two-Day Ordeal and Ransom Demand

The Guardia Civil has arrested three people for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping and sequestration of a man of Moroccan origin in Oropesa del Mar (Castellón).
The three suspects, two Moroccans and a Spaniard, kidnapped the victim, then held him captive for two days in an apartment where they forced him to provide his bank details to empty his accounts. They also recorded videos of the handcuffed Moroccan that they then sent to his family in Morocco to demand a ransom of 30,000 euros, reports the armed institute in a press release.
The victim was released on March 31, after managing to jump from the balcony of a neighboring apartment and call for help. Alerted by neighbors of the apartment where the Moroccan was being held, the civil guards of Oropesa del Mar carried out a rapid intervention on the spot, which made it possible to free the man who had minor injuries and bore visible signs of violence. Two of his kidnappers were arrested on the spot. As for the third who had fled, he was arrested in Castellón, relays La Vanguardia.
According to the first elements of the investigation carried out by the judicial police of Oropesa del Mar, the victim of Moroccan origin was forced, under threat of a firearm, to get into a vehicle in Benicàssim. The suspects managed to steal 4,000 euros from his accounts during his sequestration. The accused, two Moroccans and a Spaniard, were placed in pre-trial detention, on the orders of the competent prosecution office in Castellón.
