Moroccan Man Arrested in Melilla for Attempted Strangulation of Wife

The Local Police of Melilla have arrested a man of Moroccan origin, accused of violence he has exerted on his partner. He also tried to strangle her in front of their 2-year-old daughter.
Police sources cited by the local press indicate that the events date back to last Tuesday, July 2, late in the morning, when a neighbor alerted the police, following an assault on a woman by a man who appeared to be her husband.
Arriving very quickly on the scene, the local police officers did not find the husband who had left the couple’s home in Melilla very quickly. His wife said he had threatened to kill her, had beaten her before hitting her with a knife on the arm. He also tried to strangle her with an electrical cable.
The victim also explained that this is not the first time her husband has verbally and physically assaulted her, in the presence of their barely two-year-old daughter. She was taken care of by the ambulance.
A little later, the Moroccan was arrested by the police officers before being placed in custody. Aged 36, he must soon appear before the courts.
