Moroccan Hotels Reach Full Capacity as Domestic Tourism Surges for Eid Al Fitr
It’s a full house in Moroccan hotels during Eid Al Fitr. Domestic tourism is booming.
The occupancy rate of some renowned hotels has reached 100% since Saturday, according to professional sources. For example, many residents of Casablanca and Rabat rushed to Marrakech. Some hotel facilities in the ochre city were fully booked, to the point that latecomers were unable to make reservations, reports Hespress. Even the sometimes considered high prices have not dampened the desire of Moroccans to stay in hotels.
Why this rush to hotels? According to industry professionals, the quality of the services offered by the hotels is increasingly seducing the Moroccan clientele. Another important point: the development of domestic flights, especially to destinations like Agadir, which facilitates these festive trips. In addition, the hotel infrastructure of the major cities, such as Marrakech, is constantly improving.
In 2024, domestic tourism generated 8.5 million overnight stays in classified hotels in 2024, or 30% of the total overnight stays recorded in the kingdom. This upturn should continue this year. During the monthly session devoted to general policy issues on the "major orientations of tourism policy" at the end of January, the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, had announced that a strategic roadmap for the tourism sector had adopted a new vision for an exceptional tourism offer, in order to improve the customer experience, through the development of domestic tourism sectors in coastal cities and natural areas.
