Marrakech Hotels Boom as French Tourists Lead Surge in Visits

In Marrakech, the hotel industry is experiencing an upturn, driven by the good health of the tourism sector, which continues to grow. The French remain the top foreign visitors regularly coming to the ochre city.

"Positive results have been recorded over the past four weeks, with several hotels reaching high occupancy rates, particularly among French tourists, who remain the top foreign visitors regularly coming to the ochre city," professional sources reveal to Hespress. In a statement to the same media, Al-Hussein, a member of the management of one of the largest hotels in the ochre city, affirmed that "many hotels have recorded significant occupancy rates during the month of April. This is due to the coincidence of this month with the spring holidays enjoyed by citizens (tourists) in several European countries."

According to him, managing to fill nearly 360 rooms in a five-star hotel is a positive thing, but it’s not surprising for the city of Marrakech, because "April generally represents an opportunity for many European tourists to enjoy the pleasant climate of the city, after an often difficult winter in Europe." Moreover, "the city’s hotels start, from April, to intensify the offers proposed to their clients; offers that vary according to the seasons, before reaching their peak during the summer," added Al-Hussein. A manager of a five-star hotel confirms: "the tourism sector in Marrakech has experienced positive dynamics during the month of April; which is usual every year."

According to this manager, this recovery is explained by two main factors: "the improvement of the climate and the spring holidays that span the entire month." She was keen to specify that "April is among the most active months in terms of bookings, alongside August and October." According to her, the French dominated the list of arrivals. They are followed by Moroccans, then Spaniards, not forgetting the British as well. "The length of stays varied between less than a week and more than 15 days, especially for tourists who came to Morocco for professional reasons," she specified.

Last year, the Marrakech-Safi region welcomed about 4 million tourists. Thanks to this upturn, the number of overnight stays in the region’s hotel establishments has increased, reaching more than 12 million.
