Moroccan Health Minister Suspends Doctor After Woman Gives Birth Outside Hospital

The dissemination of a video on social media showing a woman from Sefrou giving birth in front of the doors of the CHU Hassan II in Fez provoked the ire of Khalid Aït Taleb, the Minister of Health. He did not hesitate to temporarily suspend the gynecologist-obstetrician, Abdesslam El Bekkali, from the Provincial Hospital of Sefrou.
After watching this video, the Minister of Health, Khalid Aït Taleb, ordered an investigation, reports Le360. This investigation revealed that the pregnant woman was directed to the Fez CHU instead of the maternity ward of Sefrou. Big mistake.
Faced with the situation, the Minister of Health sent a letter to the Regional Director of Health in Fez to notify him of the temporary suspension of the functions of the gynecologist-obstetrician, Abdesslam El Bekkali. However, he will continue to receive his salary.
The next step? In accordance with Article 73 of the civil service regulations, Abdesslam El Bekkali will be brought before the Disciplinary Council.
