Moroccan Goalkeeper Bounou Seeks Exit from Relegated FC Girona

Yassine Bounou wants to leave his current club FC Girona, which will play next year in the Spanish second division championship (Liga 2). Discussions could be held with the club’s management with a view to a departure during the summer transfer window.
According to the Spanish media, the Moroccan goalkeeper does not wish to continue his adventure with the Spanish club, which has just been relegated to Liga 2 along with Huesca and Rayo Vallecano. However, if a decision were to be made, it would be after the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) which is due to start next week in Egypt.
With a release clause of 5 million euros, this should not pose a problem for potential suitors in Spain, England and also in Turkey, the same sources point out, without citing any concrete offers.
Whatever the case, it is almost certain that the Moroccan goalkeeper will change clubs next year and FC Girona should not, a priori, veto and let one of the best goalkeepers in La Liga go.
Yassine Bounou had joined the Club in 2016 after a 4-year contract with Atlético de Madrid, following a loan from Real Zaragoza. He had then extended his contract until 2021. Born in Quebec and also holding Canadian nationality, he had made his professional debut with the Wydad Casablanca team before flying to Spain in 2012.
