Morocco’s Munir El Kajoui Opts to Focus on Malaga Over National Team Duties
Tuesday 4 June 2019, by
Moroccan international Munir El Kajoui has just expressed his wish to prioritize the Malaga team over the Moroccan national football team, at least during the upcoming friendly matches scheduled for this June.
Having lost his starting place against the Numancia team, the goalkeeper knows he must be present not to be definitively benched. This is why he has announced to the Malaga FC management his desire to prioritize his club over the Atlas Lions.
Also knowing that he has to fight hard to keep his place against Yassine Bounou, the other Lions goalkeeper, he has to discuss with national coach Hervé Renard, in order to inform him of his wish to stay as long as possible on the Costa del Sol in order to try to regain his starting position.
It should be noted that Munir El Kajoui is part of the pre-list of 27 Moroccan players called up by Renard for the training camp at the National Football Center (CNF) of Maâmora which started on June 2 in Morocco.
Born in Melilla in 1989, the Moroccan-Spanish player first played for the local team before trying his luck at Club Depportivo Numancia for 4 years. He was recruited this season by the Malaga team with which he has played 24 matches. After a very good start to the season, the Andalusian club gradually lost its leadership position to find itself today 4th in the overall standings of Liga 2, synonymous with maintenance.
