Moroccan-German Man Reunites with Father After 46-Year Separation

It was an emotional scene filmed by the 2M channel as part of its Moukhtafoun program that allowed the reunion of a young man and his Moroccan father 46 years later.
Karim, a German of Moroccan origin, who does not speak a word of Arabic, still has some memories of that father and grandparents he used to see in Morocco when he was a child. But following his parents’ divorce in the early 1970s, he lost all contact with his Moroccan family after his mother remarried.
To erase all trace of his Moroccan side, his mother gives him the name of his stepfather. Instead of being called Karim Bouchaâra, he will now be called Karim Mayar.
In his testimony, Karim says that his mother has always refused to provide him with any information about his father and the family left in Morocco, but the latter does not give up and it is the meeting with another Moroccan from Germany, Hamid Choukry, that finally gives him a little hope.
Their unsuccessful searches, they contacted the Moukhtafoun team who found this father who has always kept a photo of his son in his wallet and who refused to remarry.
Here is the moving reunion:
