Moroccan Gendarmes and Drug Trafficker Arrested in Corruption Probe

Elements of a special brigade from the central services of the Royal Gendarmerie arrested two gendarmes from the Souk El Arbaa brigade, in the province of Kenitra, and a drug baron as part of an investigation into suspected corruption.
It all started with the dissemination of a video showing a drug trafficker handing money to two gendarmes so that they would not hold his criminal activity against him. In the same video, the drug baron negotiates with one of the gendarmes the exemption from a fine in exchange for a sum of money. The dissemination of the video led the high command of the Royal Gendarmerie to order the opening of an investigation, reports the Arabic-language daily Al Akhbar.
Elements of a special brigade from the central services of the gendarmerie carried out a raid in the Gharb region to investigate this case. The investigations proved fruitful. The investigators quickly arrested the drug trafficker who had filmed the scene. They then arrested the gendarme, the main actor in the negotiations on the amount of the bribery, and then managed to arrest his accomplice at the Ouaouizeght brigade in the province of Azilal, where he had just been transferred.
