Moroccan Royal Gendarmerie Probes Officers’ Alleged Ties to Drug Ring Near Ceuta

The Royal Gendarmerie is investigating the possible involvement of its elements in drug trafficking in the city of Belyounech, near Ceuta.
The Royal Gendarmerie opened the investigation into these facts after receiving information indicating possible complicity of certain members of the auxiliary forces with a well-known drug trafficker in the north of the kingdom. The interrogations and investigations carried out in the region reveal that drug trafficking has been reactivated in the Moroccan city of Belyounech.
The investigation is ongoing. Recently, a large quantity of hashish smuggled near the village of Ouad El Marsa was intercepted by the Moroccan security forces, reports El Faro de Ceuta, specifying that this seizure raises fears of the resumption of drug trafficking on this route connecting northern Morocco to Europe.
