Moroccan Gendarmes Arrested in International Ecstasy Trafficking Bust

Thanks to Morocco’s security cooperation with its international partners and allies against drug trafficking, human trafficking and cross-border crime, two Moroccan gendarmes have been arrested for their alleged involvement in a drug trafficking network.
It all started with the seizure by the security services of some 100,000 ecstasy tablets hidden in a vehicle registered in Germany and driven by a Moroccan national. Two gendarmes assigned to a road junction considered sensitive will then be suspected of having facilitated a traffic in psychotropic tablets (Karkoubi) transported by a public transport operator, reports the daily Assabah. At least 7 arrest warrants have been issued nationwide following the outbreak of this case.
Subsequently, an operation by the Moroccan security services carried out as part of Morocco’s security cooperation with its international partners and allies against drug trafficking, human trafficking and cross-border crime resulted in the arrest of the two gendarmes. After their arrest, they were questioned by an investigating judge at the Court of Appeal in Nador.
