Moroccan Gendarme Killed as Floods Sweep Vehicle Near Sidi Kacem

The accident occurred in Sidi Kacem, during the night from Wednesday to Thursday. The body of the gendarme was found along with his vehicle.
Surprised by a storm while on his way to work in Outita, a famous agricultural penitentiary located in the province of Sidi Kacem, a 40-year-old gendarme originally from Marrakech died, reports Al Akhbar. His vehicle was swept away by the floodwaters after a river overflowed. The overflow was caused by the heavy rains that have hit Meknes in recent days.
An authority agent alerted the competent services, who launched a large-scale search operation. The vehicle was found. Inside were work equipment. They also managed to recover his body, which was transported to the morgue of the Sidi Kacem hospital. Subsequently, an investigation was opened.
The provincial road connecting the town of Sidi Kacem to the Outita prison is in very poor condition, causing several accidents in recent months, the same source reports.
