Moroccan-French Man Arrested in Marrakech for Belgian Citizen’s Kidnapping

In coordination with the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), the judicial police elements of Marrakech arrested on Monday two individuals, including a French national of Moroccan origin, accused of kidnapping and sequestrating a Belgian citizen.
According to the results of the preliminary investigation, the Franco-Moroccan, accused of forgery, fraud and scam in another ongoing case, would have asked the second suspect to kidnap and sequestrate the victim in an apartment in Marrakech. The Belgian national, released on Saturday by the police, bore marks of blows and was transferred to the hospital to receive the necessary care.
After their arrest, the two suspects were placed in custody under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. The investigation continues to determine the ins and outs of this case. At the current stage, the investigators favor the track of a settling of scores related to an illegal trafficking.
