Moroccan Forces Repel Polisario Attack, Inflicting Heavy Casualties in Western Sahara

New exchanges of fire took place between the Royal Armed Forces and the Polisario militiamen in the Tifariti area. In its report, the Forum for Support to the Autonomists of Tindouf (Forsatin) reports several deaths and injuries among the separatists.
The situation in the buffer zone was disrupted at the beginning of the week by an attack by the Polisario, despite the presence of Minurso elements. In its press release, Forsatin reported that the FAR’s response resulted in the destruction of several military vehicles.
The Forum also stresses that the Moroccan army inflicted heavy human and material losses on the Polisario militiamen. Many wounded were reportedly transferred to the Tindouf hospital.
"We are deeply saddened by the fate of these martyrs, who were forced by the Polisario leaders to bear arms and fight in the ranks of their militiamen," laments the Forum. "The Front bears full responsibility for the miseries inflicted on the Sahrawi families."
