Moroccan Female Fans Face Sexual Harassment After Soccer Match in Cairo

Moroccan supporters were victims of sexual harassment as they left the Es-salam Stadium in Cairo, after the match that pitted the national team against the Namibian team.
According to the daily Al Massae, several Egyptian media reported the scenes of humiliation suffered by Moroccan supporters; they were harassed by young Egyptians. Outraged, the media recommended that the young women be accompanied by men in order to avoid such situations.
Sexual harassment is a very widespread phenomenon in Egypt. And the authorities have advised the supporters to quickly join the city center and avoid traveling alone.
A significant security device was put in place by the Egyptian authorities during the current edition of the Africa Cup of Nations. The objective is to ensure the safety of visitors and to avoid any form of public misconduct.
The Moroccan diplomatic mission in Egypt had reacted to the aggression of Moroccan supporters and called on the authorities of the country to make more efforts in protecting Moroccan citizens, who arrived in droves to support the Atlas Lions.
