Viral Video Shows Sexual Assault of Moroccan Woman During Egypt New Year’s Celebration
Egyptians attacked a Moroccan woman on New Year’s Eve in Al Mansoura, Egypt. The video of the assault, posted on social media, sparked outrage among Internet users.
In this video, widely shared on social media, we can see the Moroccan woman being sexually assaulted by a group of Egyptians. Fortunately for her, her cries for help were heard. Other men managed to save her from the clutches of her attackers, then helped her get into a car.
According to ERM News, the young woman was participating in New Year’s Eve festivities with a man and a woman when the incident occurred. The video of the scene has gone viral on social media. Immediately, Internet users in Egypt and Morocco described the incident as a "barbaric" crime.
"[It’s sad] when a Moroccan comes as a tourist to spend holidays and celebrate the new year in Egypt and ends up suffering such ignoble actions from savage people," laments an Internet user.
The assault on this Moroccan woman is not an isolated case. Last summer, men had followed and harassed a group of Moroccan women after the match between Morocco and Namibia as part of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN).
