Moroccan Women’s Anti-Harassment Video Sparks Backlash on Social Media

At the initiative of the visual artist Khadija Tanana, a group of Moroccan women from Tétouan launched the "My Body, My Freedom" campaign as part of the fight against violence and sexual harassment against women.
The artist, accompanied by a handful of young women from the city, recorded an awareness video, inspired by a feminist campaign launched last year in Chile.
Like their Chilean counterparts, the heroines of the video blindfolded themselves, chanting slogans such as "You are the rapist" or "It wasn’t my fault, nor the fault of the clothes I was wearing, or the place where you were; the rapist is you."
Widely disseminated on social media, the video was the subject of scathing, sometimes insulting criticism. Mocked and ridiculed by Internet users, the women were criticized for their performance, which was described as mediocre.
